Motorized Bikes and Vehicles on District Detention Ponds and Drainage Facilities

MCMUD 152A residents,

There have been numerous reports and documented evidence of the operation of motorized vehicles on the banks and side slopes of the District’s detention pond and drainage facilities. These drainage facilities provide critical protection from flood risk during large rain events.

Driving on the banks of detention ponds and drainage ditches damages the surface vegetation, often leaving ruts behind. Water can stand in these ruts and create structural problems with the underlying facility. Additionally, the grass is essential to protect these berms from erosion that would compromise the integrity of the facility. Accordingly, state law (see Texas Water Code § 49.217) classifies the use of motorized vehicles on District drainage facilities as a Class C misdemeanor for first time offenders and a Class B misdemeanor after the first offense.

We ask that all residents refrain from operating motorized vehicles of any kind, including e-bikes, along or within any detention ponds or drainage ditches throughout the District, and that you take the time to notify members of your household of these rules. The District is also in the process of posting additional signage to notify residents that this activity is prohibited.

Thank you for your help to keep these facilities in excellent condition. If you observe any violations or unauthorized access to District facilities, please contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office’s non-emergency line at (936) 538-5900.

Rescinded: Stage 1 Voluntary Water Restrictions

Effective immediately, Montgomery County MUD 152A has rescinded Stage 1 of the Drought Contingency Plan.

Normal water usage may resume following the successful utilization of the emergency water interconnect between MCMUD105 and MCMUD152C. This shared infrastructure safely maintained system stability and continuity of service during MCMUD152C’s water well failure.

The Boards of Directors appreciate the cooperation of all residents and commend the collaborative partnership between our communities to ensure regional water security for Woodson’s Reserve.
